Built in Pittsburgh, focused on your home
In July 2019, founder and president AJ Laugelli started Six Star Heating & Cooling after years in the HVAC industry convinced him customers deserved more than a quick appointment and a sales pitch. They deserved clear communication, honest recommendations, quality workmanship—and a contractor who still answers the phone after the job is finished.
Starting out wasn't easy: one truck, a home office, equipment delivered to the driveway, and customer meetings held at coffee shops and borrowed offices. With his wife Carol and family supporting the journey, AJ spent countless hours shaking hands and earning trust one conversation at a time. Those early years taught a lesson that still defines the company: relationships are everything.
Today Six Star serves homeowners, businesses, property managers, and commercial facilities throughout the Pittsburgh area—with more trucks, a permanent Carnegie facility, and a growing team. The philosophy hasn't changed: relationships over transactions. We may not always be the cheapest option, but you'll always know where you stand—and we stand behind our work, no matter the situation.

AJ founded Six Star in July 2019 after 15 years in the trade, with one priority: do right by the customer. He still leads from the field—setting the standard for properly engineered installs, straight answers, and a crew culture where quality and clear communication come first.

From one truck to a Pittsburgh institution
Every milestone below was earned the same way — showing up, doing the work right, and standing behind it.
July 2019
Founded Six Star Heating & Cooling with one truck, operating from home and serving customers throughout the Pittsburgh area.
2020
Hired the company's first W-2 employee, added two more team members, expanded the fleet, and implemented Housecall Pro to improve customer communication and operations.
2021
Expanded beyond residential work and began performing larger commercial HVAC projects and tenant build-outs.
2022
Established dedicated divisions — a commercial installation crew, a dedicated service technician, and a residential installation team.
2023
Strengthened operations, processes, and customer-service systems while expanding relationships with homeowners, businesses, and property managers.
2024
Purchased our office and warehouse facility in Carnegie and completed a major renovation of the building and property.
2025
Entered a significant growth phase — multiple new vehicles, a bigger team, and expanded residential and commercial capabilities.
2026
Added permanent building signage to our headquarters and continued investing in the infrastructure for long-term growth.
