Honest heating and cooling work for the dense, early-1900s housing along Brownsville Road.
Six Star Heating & Cooling repairs and replaces furnaces, boilers, and air conditioners across Carrick, one of the South Hills' densest neighborhoods. We work in tight lots and older mechanical spaces every week, with written upfront pricing and no pressure. Call (412) 880-7827.
Dense blocks, tight mechanical spaces, honest work
Carrick lines Brownsville Road with early-twentieth-century brick two-stories and duplexes on compact lots. Tight side yards and close-set homes mean condenser placement, line-set routing, and venting all take more care here than in a suburban subdivision, and older basements often hold mechanical equipment in genuinely tight quarters.
Our installers handle these constraints week in and week out. You get equipment that fits the space, meets code, and can actually be serviced later, along with a walkthrough that explains what we did and why.
Common HVAC challenges in Carrick
Tight-lot condenser placement
Close-set homes demand thoughtful outdoor unit placement for clearances, noise, and neighbor sight lines. We plan it before install day.
Duplexes and two-unit buildings
Carrick's duplexes often share aging mechanicals. We help owners split or upgrade systems fairly, with clear per-unit options.
Older venting and chimneys
High-efficiency furnace upgrades change venting requirements in older homes. We handle flue and chimney implications properly, not as an afterthought.
Rebates and incentives for this neighborhood
Verified July 2026Duquesne Light residential rebates
City of Pittsburgh homes are in Duquesne Light territory. Duquesne Light's Act 129 residential rebate program entered a new phase (Phase V) on June 1, 2026, and updated equipment rebate amounts were still being finalized as of July 2026. The federal 25C and 25D energy-efficiency tax credits ended December 31, 2025 and are no longer available for new equipment purchases. If another contractor is still promising a federal tax credit on a 2026 install, get a second opinion.

Pennsylvania's $258.9 million Penn Energy Savers home-energy rebate program had not yet launched as of July 2026. It is awaiting final federal approval, and rebates will not be retroactive, so do not postpone an essential repair waiting on it. We track the program and will tell you honestly if waiting makes sense for your project.

Carrick HVAC questions, answered
Do you work on duplexes and small rental buildings in Carrick?
Yes. We service owner-occupied duplexes and small rental properties, and our block-hour partnerships give landlords with multiple units priority response and predictable pricing.
Can a high-efficiency furnace vent properly in my older Carrick home?
Yes, with correct sidewall PVC venting and attention to what the change means for the existing chimney and any water heater that shares it. We engineer that into every quote.
Where would the AC condenser go on a tight Carrick lot?
We evaluate clearances, noise, and service access during the estimate and agree the placement with you before installation day. No surprises.
Do you offer same-day service in Carrick?
We offer same-day availability when capacity allows during business hours, Monday through Friday 8 to 5. Calling early in the day gives you the best odds.
What should a Carrick homeowner budget for a furnace replacement?
It depends on size, efficiency, and venting scope, so we quote in writing after a proper assessment. Our pricing guide explains typical ranges, and financing on qualifying equipment is available through Synchrony.
