Commissioning

Commissioning is the measured startup and verification process after install — airflow, refrigerant charge, combustion, controls, drainage, and safety checks — confirming the system performs as designed before the job is treated as finished.

Pittsburgh note

Six Star documents install quality with a signed 26-point checklist so Carnegie and Greater Pittsburgh homeowners get verification, not just a system that turns on.

Why “it turns on” is not enough

Equipment can run and still be wrong on charge, static pressure, or combustion. Commissioning is how those misses get caught before the first extreme weather week.

What to ask for

Ask what gets measured, who signs off, and how punch-list items are closed. A checklist culture is one of the clearest differences between a careful install and a drop-and-go swap.
